Measuring Up: Exploring capacity and volume in Year 3

11 Jun

In Year 3, students explored the concepts of capacity and volume through a fun and practical hands-on experience that truly brought their learning to life. Using measuring cylinders, they observed how volume is measured and discussed the difference between capacity and volume. The children examined a variety of containers with different capacities, comparing and contrasting their sizes. They then had the opportunity to make their own estimates of how much water each bottled contained before checking their predictions. This engaging activity not only helped reinforce their understanding of key mathematical concepts but also encouraged critical thinking and teamwork.

Well done Year 3 – we are PROUD of your hard work!
