Cooking Up Science

11 Jul

In Science, Year 3 have started learning about scientific enquiry. We’re asking questions, making predictions, and carrying out experiments to find out more about the world around us.

Our first investigation was all about solar ovens and how they can be made more effective. We worked in small groups to build our own solar ovens using everyday materials.

To test our ideas, we decided to stick foil on top to reflect the sunlight and help keep the heat in. We also made sure to keep the lid closed during the experiment to trap the warm air inside.

It was exciting to test our designs and see which ovens worked best. This activity helped us understand how solar energy works — and how scientists use experiments to solve real-life problems!
