Transition into Arts – 2026

Dagenham’s Year 6 students created some beautiful artwork this week, as part of their transition into Year 7.

Students experimented with shape, composition and mark making, inspired by music and the work of Henri Matisse. Saarah in Year 6 said that she was really looking forward to her art lessons at Eastbrook School. “It was so inspiring to listen to the music Ms Frost played and to create art using our feelings and emotions. I love how abstract art can mean different things for different people.” she added.

Eastbrook School is an Ofsted rated Good, all-through school in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and is part of the Barking Abbey family. Founded in 1933, Eastbrook has a well-established history of serving the local community, with many generations of families attending as students and even joining as staff. The primary school opened in 2016 and is growing in size year on year. The secondary school transferred into new, state of the art buildings in 2017, benefiting from purpose-built specialist learning environments with industry level resources and outstanding access to green outdoor spaces.

Eastbrook is a thriving and growing community school, welcoming students from a broad range of backgrounds, culturally, economically and in terms of need.
