Once Upon A Library Trip
Our Reception classes recently enjoyed an exciting milestone: their very first school trip! With great enthusiasm and plenty of smiles, the children set off on a special visit to the local library, travelling together by bus.
The adventure began as the children boarded the bus. There was a buzz of excitement as they carefully found their seats, chatted with friends, and watched the world go by through the windows. The journey itself was a big part of the experience, helping the children learn about travelling safely and behaving responsibly in public.
Upon arriving at the library, the class was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. The children were amazed by the vast selection of colourful books and cosy reading spaces. They listened beautifully during a special story time session, where their imaginations were brought to life through an engaging and animated tale.
After the story, the children had the opportunity to explore the library by completing a book scavenger hunt. They browsed picture books, shared stories with friends, and discovered new characters and adventures. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they turned pages and talked about their favourite books.
The visit also helped the children understand how a library works and why reading is so important. They learned how to take care of books and how libraries are a place for everyone to enjoy.
By the time it was time to return to school, the children were full of stories to share. The bus ride back was a little quieter, with many tired but happy faces.
This memorable trip has inspired a love of reading and adventure in our Reception classes—marking the beginning of many more learning journeys to come.
