Exploring Eastbrookend Discovery Centre and Country Park

12 Feb

On this occasion, the classes completed their second local walk to explore a contrasting part of Dagenham. This time, we turned right out of school and headed towards Eastbrookend Country Park. Students quickly noticed the striking difference between this area and the busier streets we visited last week. They used their senses to observe their surroundings, taking in the vast open green spaces, numerous trees, wildlife, and habitats—and, at times, experiencing complete silence.

During the walk, students were introduced to the term rural, and almost the entire class expressed a preference for this more peaceful environment. We concluded our walk after exploring the community orchard, visitor centre, café, and play area—which, unfortunately, was too wet to use today. I have a feeling that our Reception friends and their families will become frequent visitors to this local gem!
