Eastbrook Mourns

17 Oct

Eastbrook School paid respects to a most revered member of our family this week, Joseph Fryer.

Mr Fryer was a student at Eastbrook School and had close ties to the school and the community of Dagenham, where he grew up during World War 2. He was born and lived in Foxlands Road Dagenham, until moving in 1987 to Upminster.

Mr Fryer became a Parent Governor in 1970 when his eldest daughter joined Eastbrook as a student and was an active member of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA). The PTA would put on events, such as summer fetes and many more activities to raise money for the school. He became treasurer of the PTA throughout this time and was a regular visitor to the school, attending school shows, sports events and many other extra-curricular activities that the school put on, where parents and those involved in the governing body could attend.

Mr Fryer was also part of the governing body of two primary schools, Hunters Hall and Richard Alibon, being again Chair of Governors of these until he resigned to concentrate on being the Chair of Governors at Eastbrook School.

Joseph Fryer has been part of the Eastbrook family for 40 years serving the teachers, children and parents of this great school community. He loved every moment of being part of such a great institution.

He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with the family at the passing of such a great man.
