Borough Netball Rally Success
Wednesday 4th March saw the Year 9 Borough Rally take place at Robert Clack, with a strong line-up of teams ready to compete. Drawn in a group with All Saints, Barking Abbey and Riverside, the girls knew that with seven-minute matches there was little room for error.
A slow start against All Saints didn’t stop the team from securing a 2–1 win. A much sharper performance followed against Barking Abbey, resulting in a 4–2 victory thanks to improved attacking play and strong defensive pressure. The final group game against a physical Riverside team saw the girls remain patient on the ball and make smart decisions, earning a 4–1 win and finishing top of the group.
The semi-final brought a tough, goal-for-goal contest against Jo Richardson. In a tense and closely fought match, the girls held their nerve to secure a 4–3 victory and a place in the final.
The final saw us face an unbeaten Robert Clack School. It was an outstanding game of netball, with both teams showcasing fantastic skill and determination. The match remained level at 4–4 with just 30 seconds to play and a centre pass to Robert Clack. Despite a huge defensive effort, we were unable to force a turnover and they converted their chance, narrowly taking the win 5–4.
The girls were exceptional throughout the day, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and maturity in every match. We are incredibly PROUD of their second-place finish and the way they represented the school.
Well done to all involved.
