Thrilling Third Day at Trewern
After a long day of activities yesterday the children were again keen to go exploring on Wednesday. They kitted up in wetsuits, waterproofs and buoyancy aids to go gorge walking! The Welsh hillside stream was very cold and provided quite a few oohs and ahhs when the children first stepped into it but their wetsuits did the job of keeping them toasty warm.
Again the children demonstrated brilliant perseverance, resilience, determination and teamwork to walk along the stream, climb waterfalls, slide down rocks, walk behind a waterfall, float in a pond and fall backwards into a pool. There were a lot of smiles, giggles and laughs as they splashed about in the water.
After lunch and a warm shower, they scaled the climbing walls at the Centre. Teamwork again was key when the children were marking each other, beelining and being bell ringers in order for their friends to climb the very tall walls. The instructor remarked on how well the group listened and how many times they were able to climb up different sections of the wall. Tahiyah remarked: "I've never done that before and it was so much fun!".
In the evening, the children took part in problem solving tasks, involving transferring a crystal ball from one platform to another using only rope, getting all of their group over a high fence and balancing on various pieces of equipment.
After a busy day, it was time for bed and a last day of activities to look forward to tomorrow.
