The Last Wild

13 Jan

Year six children have been reading the amazing book – The Last Wild – and visited the forest to bring the book to life!

The children imagined that they were taken by a flock of wild pigeons and role played flying in the breezy wind over the city. They imagined that the pollution and smog was in their faces hence their grimaces during the drama. In the text, the main character has lived in a polluted city, with the deadly red eye virus for six years and he has never been outside in the wild. They discussed how he could be feeling. Later, they role played being in a wild forest and explored the environment, just as the character in the book would have done. To end our session in the forest, pupils enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies. Children will use the drama experience in their written work, later in the week.
