Super Second Day at Trewern
On Tuesday morning the children were up early and eager to get on with their activity, which was caving! Some children were a little anxious however their excitement outweighed the nerves. It took a while getting all of the safety equipment on but soon they were on their way deep underground.
The cave they visited was called Porth yr Ogof, which translates as ‘open-mouthed cave’ in Welsh, due to the large opening. It was pitch black inside the cave and quite wet too but the children were keen to explore the dark depths. They slid easily through the letterbox, slithered down the worm hole and popped up in some meercat tunnels. It was a please to see them helping each other through tight spaces, encouraging others to keep going and maintaining levels of enthusiasm. Dominykas said, "I love caving, it is one of the best activities that I have ever participated in! I cannot wait to get the chance to go again!"
Later on that night, after a hearty meal and a warm shower, the children too part in orienteering in the grounds of Trewern. One group managed to find all 8 locations and earned themselves a reward!
