Imperial War Museum

05 Nov

On Friday 17th October Year 6 were very excited to be going to the Imperial war Museum! They also had an unexpected encounter whilst walking to the museum in Waterloo. A motorcycle outrider asked the traffic to stop and a motorcade headed along the road, sitting in the back of a black Range Rover was... Prince William. All the children waved at the Prince and in turn we received a royal wave and cheery smile from the future King of England!

After our exciting journey, the children were astounded by the airplanes and vehicles in the main atrium of the museum! They marvelled at the tanks, gasped in the WWI trench and hid in air raid shelters. They had a go at writing an encrypted message on an enigma machine and dressed up in a soldier's uniform.

The children had a great day of learning outside of the classroom and their behaviour was superb. Many pupils exclaimed that they would like to go back to the museum again as they found it so interesting and informative!
