Fantastic First Day at Trewern
Eastbrook Year 6 students arrived at school very early and excited on Monday 22nd September - they were going on an exciting journey to their residential visit at Trewern, in Hay on Wye. There were lots of eager faces, plenty of enthusiasm and a little trepidation about their visit. For many children it would be their first time away from home.
There was quite a long journey but spirits were high when they arrived at the beautiful destination. The sun was shining, sheep were grazing in the nearby fields and the whole scene was incredibly serene.
The children had a tour of the outdoor centre and then enjoyed some much needed some free time outside before their evening duties. The children helped to lay the tables for dinner, serve the food and helped to clear away before their night-time walk around the local area. They heard owls, bats and foxes in the fields, they hugged a 2000 year old Yew tree and explored the local church (a local social hub for many residents).
After a long day, everyone fell asleep quickly, ready for more adventures in Wales the next day.
