Year 5 Visit to Atlassian Williams F1 Headquarters
Year 5 have relished an unforgettable trip to the Atlassian Williams F1 Racing Headquarters in Oxfordshire. With an early 5:45am departure and a three-hour journey, the excitement began before along before the sun was even up!
Once we arrived, the children were immersed in the world of Formula 1 engineering and innovation. Highlights of the day included:
Racing Simulator Experience
Children had the chance to climb into a state-of-the-art racing simulator, experiencing the speed, precision and adrenaline of driving a Formula 1 car around a virtual track. The competition was fierce with winners having the added accolade of standing on the top step.
Engineering Challenge: Designing a Nose Cone
Working in teams — and sticking to a set budget — the children designed and built their own F1 nose cones. This activity encouraged creativity, teamwork and problem-solving, just like real engineers at Williams. The nose cones were tested for their durability and reliability in protecting a driver in the event of a high-speed crush.
Tour of the Williams Museum
The visit concluded with a fascinating tour of the Williams Museum. Children explored historic cars, championship trophies and memorabilia, gaining a unique insight into the legacy of one of the world’s most iconic racing teams.
The children showed fantastic enthusiasm throughout the day, and we are incredibly proud of how well they represented our school. A huge thank-you to the staff and volunteers who made this long but inspiring day possible!
