Victorian Life

13 Nov

As part of our English curriculum, we have been reading the text Street Child, which is set in the Victorian era. Year 5 had fantastic opportunity and visited the Museum of London Docklands to gain a deeper understanding of what life was like in London during the 19th century. The visit provided children with an engaging and hands-on learning experience that brought our classroom studies to life.

Through the museum’s interactive galleries and workshops, children explored the harsh realities faced by poor Victorian families and children, including working conditions, education, and daily life in the Docklands area. They discovered how industrialisation and trade transformed London, and the ways these changes affected different social classes and ultimately children.
