Marvellous May Day
Year 5 had a fantastic time celebrating their Maya Day, which was packed with fun, learning and creativity.
The day began with a food tasting session, followed by the making of delicious tortilla corn wraps filled with peppers, sweetcorn, avocados, tomatoes, cheese and kidney beans. The children thoroughly enjoyed preparing and tasting the food, and they approached the activity with enthusiasm and curiosity.
This was followed by a Maya-inspired dance workshop, which was full of energy and excitement. The children took part with great enthusiasm and clearly enjoyed the opportunity to move, perform and learn more about Maya culture through dance.
To end the day, the children took part in a bookmark-making activity using the Ancient Maya alphabet to write their names. This creative session gave everyone the chance to reflect on what they had learned while producing a keepsake to take home.
It was a completely enjoyable day, with full participation from all the children, and a wonderful celebration of Maya history and culture.
