Planning Ahead: Social Science Choices at KS4 and KS5

06 Feb

This term, key year groups have begun to consider their options for future study, an important step in shaping their next stages of education and long-term career aspirations. Social Science subjects continue to prove popular at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

At KS4, Sociology GCSE remains a strong choice, while at KS5 students can choose from Sociology A Level, Psychology A Level, and the Criminology Diploma. These subjects offer students valuable insights into human behaviour, society, and the justice system, as well as developing key analytical and evaluative skills that are highly valued by universities and employers.

Throughout the term, key teachers have spoken in assemblies and attended options fairs to provide guidance and support, helping students to decide whether these subjects are the right fit for their interests, strengths, and future goals. These conversations have focused on what studying each subject involves, the skills students will develop, and how these subjects can link to a wide range of career pathways.

Current students have also played an important role in these events, sharing their honest experiences of studying Social Science subjects. Their insights into lessons, assessments, and workload have been invaluable in helping younger students make informed decisions. We are extremely PROUD that our students are willing to support and guide future generations as they face some big and exciting choices about their education.
