From Arctic to Antarctica: Year 10 Mock Exam Preparation
Year 10 Geography students have been busy revising the topic of cold environments as they prepare for their upcoming mock examinations for AQA GCSE Geography. The topic explores some of the coldest and most extreme regions on Earth, including places such as Antarctica and the Arctic.
During revision lessons, students have been reviewing key concepts such as the characteristics of cold environments, the plants and animals that have adapted to survive there, and the opportunities and challenges these regions present for humans. They have also been revisiting important case studies, including the management and protection of Svalbard, a remote Arctic archipelago that demonstrates how fragile environments can be protected while still allowing for tourism and research.
Teachers have encouraged students to practise exam-style questions and develop their geographical skills, including interpreting maps, analysing data, and structuring extended answers. By revisiting key terminology and applying their knowledge to real-world examples, students are building confidence ahead of the mock exam. The revision sessions have been a valuable opportunity for students to consolidate their understanding of cold environments and prepare effectively for their upcoming assessments.
