Holocaust Education at the Imperial War Museum

05 Nov

Year 9 historians took part in a Diversity Day, organised by the NAZ Legacy at the Imperial War Museum. The aim was to widen their understanding of the Holocaust, and to reflect upon the personal stories of individuals and families affected. The visit included an educational workshop with two other schools. It was led by a Holocaust specialist who shared stories and artefacts to help students to prepare for their visit to the Holocaust gallery. Eastbrook historians did an outstanding job of engaging with the workshop; contributing to discussion and putting their hands up to ask and answer questions. The NAZ staff and IWM staff commented upon how brilliant our students were. They were incredibly reflective and respectful, and considering the sensitive nature of the history being shared, did a superb job to approach it with real thought and maturity.
