It's Good to Talk

01 Jul

Year 10 students are busy preparing and performing their GCSE Spoken Language presentations. As part of their English Language GCSE, all students are required to perform a 5-minute spoken presentation in front of their classmates on a topic of their choice, then respond to questions from the audience.

Our students are all hoping to achieve the coveted 'Distinction.' To be awarded this grade, students must offer a well-structured speech about a complex topic, use impressive vocabulary, be audible and articulate, and employ a range of rhetorical and performance strategies.

The English Department are incredibly PROUD of the resilience of the students; many were very nervous about their performance but all have impressed us with the effort they have put in to these speeches, which have included topics such as 'Why we should appreciate fathers,' 'The importance of sport,' and 'Why lashes should be allowed to be worn at school!' (Klara was very passionate and persuasive about this one!)

Well done to all the Year 10s who have already completed their presentations... and good luck to those who are due to perform over the remaining few weeks.
