Year 12 Enjoy Memorable Thames Sightseeing Trip to Greenwich
Year 12 students recently took part in an inspiring Talk The Talk confident communication workshop, designed to help young people develop one of the most valuable life skills they can possess – the ability to communicate with confidence.
Led by highly experienced trainers, the workshop encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, build self-belief and develop the skills needed to engage an audience. Whether preparing for further education, university interviews, apprenticeships or the workplace, the ability to speak clearly and confidently is an essential skill, and one that many young people understandably find challenging.
Throughout the day, students explored practical techniques to improve their communication, learning how to express their ideas with clarity, confidence and purpose. Through a series of engaging activities, they were encouraged to take risks, support one another and discover that confidence grows through practice.
It was fantastic to watch our Year 12 students embrace the experience. Although many arrived feeling understandably quiet and nervous, they quickly began to believe in themselves, contributing thoughtfully, speaking with increasing confidence and allowing their personalities to shine. The transformation throughout the workshops was remarkable and something the trainers themselves commented on.
The feedback from the Talk The Talk trainers was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising our students for their enthusiasm, willingness to participate and the significant progress they made during the sessions. As a Sixth Form, we were incredibly proud of the maturity, resilience and determination our students demonstrated.
At the end of each workshop, two students were nominated as Oracy Champions. These students were recognised for demonstrating outstanding communication skills, making exceptional progress or showing the courage to step outside their comfort zones during the day. Their achievements will be celebrated with certificates presented during our next Sixth Form assembly.
The workshop was a fantastic reminder that confidence is not something we are born with—it is a skill that can be developed through challenge, perseverance and practice. We hope every student leaves the experience feeling more prepared for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Congratulations to all of our Year 12 students for representing Eastbrook Sixth Form so positively. We are incredibly proud of you all and look forward to seeing your confidence continue to grow throughout the year.
