Year 2 Go Wild at London Zoo

Year 2 had a fantastic time visiting London Zoo as part of our Sensational Safari topic. This half term, we have been learning about animals found on safari in Kenya and linking our learning to the beautiful story Zeraffa Giraffa. Inspired by the book, the children have been planning and writing their own stories about an animal travelling from its home habitat all the way to London.

During our visit, we were very excited to see the giraffes, zebras and even the ostriches having a race! We also explored many other animal enclosures and enjoyed some close encounters with the squirrel monkeys as they moved around us. The children represented the school brilliantly throughout the day, showing curiosity, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour. We were incredibly PROUD of them all.

Eastbrook School is an Ofsted rated Good, all-through school in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and is part of the Barking Abbey family. Founded in 1933, Eastbrook has a well-established history of serving the local community, with many generations of families attending as students and even joining as staff. The primary school opened in 2016 and is growing in size year on year. The secondary school transferred into new, state of the art buildings in 2017, benefiting from purpose-built specialist learning environments with industry level resources and outstanding access to green outdoor spaces.
