Now Press Play: Bot and the Science of Exercise
This week, our students blasted off on an intergalactic Now Press Play adventure! Guided by Bot, their rather bossy (but lovable) robot helper, the children journeyed through space to help Aunty Órlaith on Planet Rocky. Along the way, they discovered just how amazing the human body is — especially when it comes to the effects of exercise.
Through sound, movement, and imagination, the children explored how exercise makes the heart beat faster, how it strengthens muscles, and how it helps to keep our bodies fit, clean, and healthy. From star jumps in zero gravity to helping Aunty Órlaith recover her strength after being trapped by Rock Monsters, the experience brought the science of fitness and nutrition to life in a truly memorable way.
To capture what they learned, the children also collaborated to design a word art version of Bot, filled with all the powerful words and phrases they associated with the effects of exercise — from “strong muscles” and “healthy heart” to “energy”, “oxygen” and “movement”.
Their creativity (and scientific knowledge!) really shone through, and Bot has now become a colourful classroom reminder of how exercise helps our bodies stay strong and ready for anything — even space missions!
