A Toy-tastic Trip to the Young V&A
We recently enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Young V&A, where our students took part in a self-led adventure through the world of toys – past and present.
Armed with curiosity and sharp observation skills, the children explored how toys have changed over time. From traditional toys enjoyed by children many years ago to more familiar modern favourites, students were encouraged to look closely, compare, discuss and make connections. It was wonderful to see them confidently leading their own learning, asking thoughtful questions and sharing ideas with their friends.
To make the day even more exciting, Traction Man joined us on the trip! The children loved taking him along to “meet” some of the other toys in the museum, spotting similarities, differences and imagining what Traction Man might think of toys from different eras. This added a brilliant storytelling twist to the visit and sparked lots of creativity and laughter.
The children represented the school beautifully throughout the day. Their enthusiasm, behaviour and independence made us incredibly PROUD. It was a joyful, engaging visit that brought learning to life and will feed directly into our work back in the classroom.
A huge well done to all involved – a trip full of imagination, discovery and fun!
