Creative Play with Bubble Wrap

15 Sep

At Apollo ARP, we enjoy exploring different materials and finding creative ways to use them in our play and learning. Last week, the children were given bubble wrap to explore. They discovered that it could be used for much more than popping! The children painted the bubble wrap and then pressed it onto large sheets of white paper to create colourful prints and patterns.

This hands-on activity provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore sensory experiences, colour, texture, pattern and cause and effect. As they painted, pressed and lifted the bubble wrap, they could see how their actions created different marks and prints. This encouraged curiosity, experimentation and problem-solving, as the children made choices about colours and explored how much paint to use.

The activity also supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and hand strength as the children handled the bubble wrap, used paintbrushes and applied pressure to make their prints. Most importantly, it encouraged creativity, self-expression and confidence, with each child creating their own unique artwork.

It was wonderful to see the children fully engaged in the process, enjoying the freedom to explore, experiment and discover what they could create with an everyday material.
