The EAL Department are PROUD

For the students and staff in the EAL department, lockdown hasn’t been easy. We thrive on face-to-face interaction with students, using all of our senses, body language, and methods of communication to support students in learning English. It’s a fun, interactive, and sometimes silly place, depending on which word Mrs. Zimmerman is acting out in front of the class.

So despite all the challenges of remote learning, we are so incredibly PROUD of students who have stayed organised, who have pushed through learning barriers, and who have kept striving for progress despite difficult learning situations.

Here are some shout outs from the EAL team:

Mr. Adam: “I’m so PROUD of my students who have been diligent in completing assignments in the past month.  They do a fantastic job of staying on task, turning their work in on time (battling it out to see who gets the work done first), and being enthusiastic and so keen to receive other tasks. They have have always been anxious to achieve and progress, and are also dependable and reliable. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!”

Miss. Morar: “These pupils have worked resiliently during the school lockdown and completed each given assignment on time and at a high standard. Each task was a challenge and required discipline in giving up free time. They showed principles like consistency in submitting homework, the diligence of researching for information, and being open-minded to a different learning environment. Although they were finding it hard at times to understand the task, they did not give up and sought help from online sources, from the teacher, and above all from themselves. That makes me feel proud of accomplishing my role in making my pupils THINK INDEPENDENTLY. Keep up the good work and stay safe!”
