Hold Still for the Camera!

Well done to Hizir Cankaya and Benjamin Russell in Year 9 who have submitted these fantastic shots which have been entered into a nationwide photography competition. The National Portrait Gallery have established an ambitious community project to create a unique photographic portrait which captures the spirit, mood, hopes, fears and feelings of the nation as we continue to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak.

The competition is open to everyone and there are three themes for your portrait: Helpers and Heroes; Acts of Kindness; Your New Normal. These have been suggested to help you think about what you may like to photograph. One hundred shortlisted portraits will feature in a virtual exhibition on the Gallery’s website and a selection of images will also be shown across the UK later in the year.

Please go to the NPG website: https://www.npg.org.uk/hold-still/ for more information. The closing date is 18th June 2020. You can get some top tips here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z43s2v4

Please send me the photos that you are thinking about entering so that we can review them together. This will give you the best chance of being selected!

Have a go and good luck! Mr Nathan, Photography Lead Specialist – nathana@eastbrookschool.org
