Year 9 – Religious Studies on the concept of Marriage, Divorce and Gender Equality – Term 5

Continuing with their AQA RS Theme A studies, our Year 9 students began exploring the controversial topics of Marriage, Divorce and Gender Equality.

Through the prism of various philosophical and religious teachings surrounding the purpose and meaning of marriage, the different types of marriage and how different religions conduct marriage ceremonies.

Additionally, student have delved into the purpose of divorce and why some religious denominations and other faiths allow and disallow divorce.

Lastly, students explored the concept of gender equality within religion. Students looked the difference between the Old and New Testament and how other faiths deal with the roles and responsibilities stated for genders.

Students have continued to complete key questions every week as well as quizzes set by their teacher.
