Year three have been excited to begin Science Week! They have learnt about the inspiring work of Marie Curie and Katherine Johnson, both leading women Scientists on International Women’s Day.

Later on they had fun predicting if different types of plastic would float or sink! There were cheers when their predictions were correct! Prior to the experiment children learnt how plastic is manufactured, why we use so much of it and why it is so important to reuse and recycle plastic. The Science work on plastic also links to the class English text of ‘One Plastic Bag’, which reinforces the message of recycling to save the planet.
