Mad About Minibeasts!

The children in reception have been busy little bees learning all about different minibeasts. This has been their focus topic in art as well this term. Their first task was to make an observational drawing of an inset, they spend time looking at the different shapes and the different details in each bug. They did a fantastic job at carefully sketching their creatures.

Putting their fine motor skills to the test they used clay to make a model of their chosen mini beast, with the clay tricky to manipulate the children persevered and crafted great sculptures with some children adding pipe cleaners for legs or antennas. When their models were dry the children were then able to paint their bugs to add the final touches. You could tell how proud the children were seeing their min beast projects come together.
