Year 1 Yearn To Learn At The Science Museum

To support their future learning all about patterns in maths, Year 1 children paid the Pattern Pod at the Science Museum a visit, today. As expected the Year 1 students were so mature and their behaviour exemplary, especially during the very long train journey.

Once they had arrived, the Year 1 learners wasted no time in exploring different parts of the museum in their groups. The space exhibition was particularly popular and children drew on their previous geographical knowledge all about planet Earth. Soon, it was time for the Pattern Pod experience. Here the children explored different types of pattern, including spotting lines of symmetry. They discussed how patterns changed and were able to work with their friends to create both 2D and 3D patterns. So much problem solving was happening, with perseverance and teamwork being displayed in abundance.

After all of that learning, a hefty lunch was required to fill those hungry tummies before the long, return journey home.

Year 1, you were such fantastic ambassadors for our school and I know that you will sail through our future pattern learning in maths after such a productive day.

Super proud of you all!
