Year 1 pupils have been so engaged with their Autumn term Virtues Day. One of the virtues explored today was ‘helpfulness’. Using the story ‘Bear feels sick’ as a prompt, Year 1 learners discussed various ways in which we help people when they are poorly or hurt. They then had such a thoughtful idea- we could deliver handmade get well cards to the sick, elderly patients at Queens Hospital. So that’s exactly what we did! The children took such care and pride in their work, wrote beautiful and supportive messages to cheer up the recipients and then Mrs Turner delivered them to the Mandarin B ward at the hospital after work. The staff were blown away by Year 1’s kindness and generosity and the families and patients were so grateful and appreciative. Such a virtuous act!
