The children in Reception flew to the continent of  Africa this week, to have a look around the home of the main character in their story this week, Handa. They learned a little about the continent  and then compared the country of Kenya to the UK. The children were able to sort the images into the correct place. There was a brilliant discussion about the similarities and differences between the two countries, with the children being about to talk about the weather, the animals, the homes, and the environment.

It was a great week of learning in Reception and they definitely earned their treat of making a fruit salad using all the fruits from Handa’s surprise. Some of the children even tried the tangy passion fruit and the sweet smelly guava!
