Week 11 – Utopia!

This week, team Utopia were very bubbly having had a restful half term. Colleagues had prepared a range of engaging and cross curricular activities for the week.

The students were an absolute joy to work with. In the mornings, students spent their time completing online tasks and they had to adjust to the new schedule of completing three hours of work. Colleagues randomly checked whether tasks were up to date.

After break, students resume online learning and puzzles, dominoes, jigsaws and tarsia games (promoting problem solving skills) before going for a lunch break.

The afternoon sessions include students engaging in sport activities such as table tennis, badminton, basketball and football in the sports hall. During which, Brandon displayed his amazing skills during a table tennis match with Mr.Dos Santos, and Tameem also played against Mr.Mckenzie.

Mrs. Godwin also joined in a round of badminton with some of the students. Tegan also demonstrated great footballing skills.

The team also engaged in a treasure hunt in the sports hall with Mr.Dos Santos taking the lead, from whom the students learnt that determination is a great key to success. The weather didn’t permit the outdoor loci game as planned, however we improvised and used the sports hall.

Stars of the week include:

Jac and Julia who both demonstrated resilience: not wanting to go out for lunch on time till their puzzle was completed.

Warren, who was so engrossed in a problem-solving activity, that he asked to play this every day.

Ruby, Tegan and Sophie showed great resilience when completing their puzzles.

Jac demonstrated his very helpful nature – always offering to put the laptops back into the appropriate compartments.

Tameem exhibited PROUD attributes by being Principled, Resilient, Open to new knowledge, Understanding and Disciplined as all his online tasks were up to date. He also helped other students who were struggling with uploading their work.

Overall, it was a wonderful week that exceeded our expectations, and a great pleasure.

Well done Team Utopia!
