Testing

Parents and students will be aware that Barking and Dagenham has made great progress recently in controlling the spread of the coronavirus. Infection rates are relatively low in the local area which is down to everyone’s care and vigilance.

However, I think we are all aware that we haven’t reached the end yet. The Delta strain is significantly more transmittable than previous strains and is also more common among young people.

We obviously want to keep the infection out of school as much as possible as positive cases are likely to have a big impact on a lot of other students who might be ‘close contacts’

As such, I want to stress the importance of ALL students continuing to test twice weekly and recording their result. If the test is positive or students display any symptoms consistent with the new strain they must stay at home and self isolate while also getting a PCR test ASAP. By doing this, students who are unfortunate enough to contract the virus will minimise the damage it causes to the education of others.

We thank everyone for their help and support with this
