The Practices of Christianity

Year 11 Religious Studies – GCSE: Christian Practices
This term, our religious studies students have been investigating the religious practices within Christianity.
Students have explored the different denominations of Christianity such as Catholicism, Protestantism, Greek Orthodoxy and Quakers and their respective ways of worship, both privately at home and in the wider community and church. Additionally, students have analysed the different meanings of Christian prayers such as the Apostle’s Creed and the Lord’s prayer.

The Year 11s have investigated the purpose and places of Christian Pilgrimages to Iona, Lourdes, Fatima as well as to Jerusalem and Bethlehem. This, coupled with the study of Christian festivals, have provided our students with the opportunities to further analyse and debate as to the importance of traditions and practices as a central foundation of religion as well as part of the humanity’s need for spirituality and purpose.

The students have continued to maintain their exam readiness and perfect their exam skills during our current lockdown with access to their RS work booklets which was posted to them at the start of term.

Overall, we wish to applaud our students for their continuing hard work and we look forward to see many more exemplary work in the future.
