Spotlight on fashion career pathways with the V&A

Eastbrook students were given a real treat today when they took part in a live webinar with London College of Fashion graduate, Shanice Palmer, on making it in the fashion industry. The webinar, organised by the V&A gave students an insight into what it’s like to study fashion at degree level, how to find their fashion voice and what it’s like to create your first collection.

London based Fashion Designer, Shanice Palmer presented an overview of her work and explored her journey to becoming a Fashion Designer – from putting together a first collection to finding inspiration. Shanice Palmer designs encourage wearers to be the truest versions of themselves as she defines her clothing as “rebel wear for royal souls”. As a graduate of London College of Fashion, she presented her A/W18 collection Sanktifaied at Old Spitalfields Market in June 2017. She was awarded as one of the 10 “one to watch” designers by Dezeen and has featured in various international publications such as The Pink Prince, Evening Standard, Hunger, Dazed & Dezeen.

Resonating with ideas of identity, heritage and rebellion, this talk empowered students to be creative in finding their own voice through design.
