Monday 20th June saw 32 students and 4 staff meet at 2:20am to begin the Spain Tour. Students from Year 8 to Year 10 began the 5 day 4 night Football and Netball tour to Alicante, Spain. Covid gave us a few setbacks in the trip taking place but it came time for the long awaited Sports Tour to begin and the excitement was high even in the early hours of the morning.
Our tour involved being able to receive coaching from professional coaches and play competitive Football and Netball against international schools and teams whilst being able to emerge ourselves within Spanish Culture.
Once we landed in Alicante and made our way to check in at the hotel it was all go, with our football and netball teams heading straight into their training sessions. The days followed with competitive fixtures against local opposition, more training sessions, exploring the local area alongside a trip to the Water Park.
The girls netball teams were extremely lucky to be able to be coached by Women’s Super League Netball Player and Head Coach of Surrey Storm Mikki Austin for the duration of the tour. It was a fantastic opportunity for the netball team to be coached and inspired by someone who plays and coaches at an elite level and grew up in Dagenham herself.
All students were fantastic for the whole duration of the tour. We were able to see some amazing performances from our teams and it was a pleasure to be able to take them on this trip.
We are extremely PROUD of you all!
