Role Play

Year 10 child development students are learning about supporting children with additional needs.

This term we have seen both classes using role play to imbed learning. They worked in small groups taking it in turns to be the Early Years Worker and a student with additional needs. They experienced the life of children with physical, behavioral and communication difficulties. One student is up for an Oscar for his acting role as a naughty child, while the student acting as the Early Years Worker deserved a medal for his ability to support and control the situation. Many found out that trying to paint a picture of a house or playing with play dough is extremely difficult when you are told you cannot use your hands!

Students are currently undergoing an assessment to show their knowledge and understanding of this unit.
