Rastafarianism

Year 10 Sociologists have been presenting their research on Rastafarianism. They were given the brief to apply their sociological knowledge to the people within this community addressing the following criteria

  • What are some of their cultural practices?
  • Explain the cultural relativity that people in Britain may experience when examining Rastafarianism
  • Explain how Rastafarians have contributed to a cultural diversity in Britain
  • Discrimination they faced and how they dealt with it
  • Explain the role that Rastafarians have played in shaping life in Britain
  • To what extent have life improved or changed for Rastafarians in the UK.

The enthusiasm they injected into their research was evident in the content and how they presented. Regina Pamba’s presentation was simply outstanding, addressing all the criteria and going beyond to include the history of Rastafarianism and case studies to support her findings. Regina’s presentation skills commanded her peers’ attention  showcasing strong PROUD virtues. The top five projects will be part of an EXPO, shown on the school’s website and given proud points.
