Miyawaki Forest Project at Eastbrook

Eastbrook is delighted and honoured to be part of the innovative SUGI classroom project. This is a worldwide initiative with the aim to ‘rewild’ urban areas. By planting a large number of trees and shrubs in a relatively small space, it re-establishes the balance of nature and biodiversity. It also has a very significant positive impact on levels of pollution. If you follow the link below you will be able to find out more about where these forests are around the world and the impact they are having.

SUGI Classroom Information

SUGI at Eastbrook

Our forest will be built next week in the area at the end of the teaching block (near Mr Anderson’s room) so expect a bit of noise with the machinery. Once the groundwork is done, a number of students from the Primary and Secondary school will help with the process of planting 900 trees in one day!

Thanks to Ms Arnill and Ms Hull for taking charge of the organisation and please ensure that you treat the area with great care and respect …. if successful it will be there for many years to come and will help to make our environment a lot greener and cleaner !
