Greek Gods and Great Writing

The English Department would like to share a snippet of what our Year 7 students have been doing in their English lessons so far.

In their first term at Eastbrook, students have studied ‘The Odyssey.’ This Ancient Greek epic poem is full of fantastical images and ideas which have inspired our students.

The images below show a range of creatively displayed homework curated by Miss Wood’s two classes. The students were tasked with researching the principal Olympians (Gods and Goddesses from Greek Mythology) and creating a ‘family tree’ including symbols to represent each of the members.

PROUD points were awarded for the most creative and well-researched homeworks.

This work and the ongoing study of the Odyssey have inspired students’ writing. Our department has seen some fantastic descriptions of gods, monsters and fantasy worlds.

We hope they have had fun immersing themselves in the world of ‘The Odyssey’.
