I’m sure were all aware of the #BLM protests going on around the globe, in the fight of justice after the brutal killing of George Floyd. By Minneapolis Police. I know that a lot of people are hurt by this act of racism.

Black lives matter vs All lives matter

When someone says black lives matter they are not saying that other lives don’t matter. If they were how comes “only black lives matter” isn’t said? That’s because they are not trying to say only the black community receive racism and discrimination nor are they claiming that black people are so superior that they only matter, what they’re trying to do is spread light on the fact that at this moment in time racism is more directed to them than other communities. Think of it like this. Let’s say there are two houses and one house is on fire while the other one isn’t. Are you going to go and help the one on fire or the one that is not on fire? So when someone says all lives matter I understand what they mean, but it kind of dismisses the whole point of black lives matter.

Now your assignment is to write an essay, make a PowerPoint, short video, talk about one of their greatest achievements etc. or you can choose a topic to do with black lives like, do we really learn about black history during black history month? Or learn about places like Africa or the Caribbean? Pick a country and learn about their history. You can even watch a documentary on Netflix and give a review about it.
