“After School” EAL Support

One of the ways we’re all adjusting to remote teaching is being creative with how we support one another and communicate. Being unable to meet in person makes it tricky to provide support to students learning English or struggling with literacy, as everything is usually text-based online.

The EAL department are starting virtual office hours to support students with their homework during lesson 5, from 2:30pm to 3:15pm.

Each day, there will be staff online to support all year groups, and one year group in particular will be invited to a remote teaching session.

  • On Monday, year 8 students are invited.
  • On Tuesday, year 9 students are invited.
  • On Wednesday, year 7 students are invited.
  • On Thursday, year 10 students are invited.

Year 11 students already have lesson 5 once a week, and so will get extra support from their ESOL teachers during that time. Feel free to message your ESOL teacher if you need support for mainstream classwork.

If you have any questions, or need any support, please email Mrs. Zimmerman, the EAL Coordinator @zimmermanj@eastbrookschool.org.
