A Night to Remember

Eastbrook’s Black Excellence Concert and Disco was surely a night to remember!

Concert

The first half of the evening’s proceedings was conducted by Regina Pamba (10I), who not only had the energised crowd glued to forthcoming acts but gave an unrehearsed and moving message as to why racism should have no place in modern Britain. The latter part of the show was hosted by Shaniyah Shaw-Campbell (7E) and Andrew Todiev (7E) who effortlessly grasped the opportunity, as first time hosts, like true professionals. Jahdeen Excell (8A) was the DJ, using his repertoire of musical knowledge to skillfully support his peers with their rhythms and had the crowd rocking to a wide selecting of tunes from black artistes. Undoubtedly, these acts reminded us of how blessed we are at Eastbrook to have students who are endowed with multi-talents beyond the classroom.

Amongst the electrifying performances were:

Disco

The chairs were moved to the side and the dance floor was the place to be! Hits after hits from Jahdeen’s musical catalogue including: Afro beats; Hip Hop; RnB; Reggae and Dancehall, kept the crowd jubilantly singing, dancing and exhibiting no qualms about gelling together regardless of being from different year groups and ethnicities. Whilst the music bellowed and students revelled, under the safeguard of their teachers, it was abundantly clear Eastbrook continues to provide opportunities for students to be PROUD and enjoy coveted experiences of what it truly means to part of a diverse school community.

Proceeds in excess of over £190, collected so far, from ticket sales and teachers’ donations will be donated to Brixton Soup Kitchen, a registered charity (1159976), supporting the homeless in Brixton, SW London.

Together WE learn!
