Year 6 Feel the Need, The Need for Speed (and Distance and Time)

Today for their maths lesson, Year 6 took part in an investigation focusing on the concept of speed.

In their previous learning, the children found out how to calculate the speed, distance travelled or time taken of an object when provided with some details.

Today, they became more au fait with the vocabulary required to identify the type of question being answered and conducted an investigation to produce their own data concerning the speed different objects travel 1 metre.

The excited group then used the data collected to calculate the object’s speed in cm/s.

With this data in hand, the next step will be to use the data to create our very own bank of questions relating to the speed, distance and time of our everyday classroom objects.
