Year 6 Become Movie Makers and Directors

Year 6 had the chance to become movie makers and directors today! Firstly, they watched the Sainsbury’s advert ‘The Christmas Truce’ advertising chocolate but based on real events from World War I. They were then set the brief to plan a storyboard and film an advert set during World War II. There was a buzz of excitement in the room during the planning stage and lots of great suggestions of what to advertise and how.

The children used an app on the i-pads called I-Movie to film the different scenes to their advert and then they edited them together. There was great teamwork, perseverance and creativity shown within the lesson.

Everyone was eager to see the completed adverts, they ranged from advertising chocolate, sweets, gas masks to teddy bears. The children were aware of the time period that their adverts were set in, using era appropriate props such as marbles, boiled sweets and some pupils even dressed up as evacuees to film certain scenes.

The adverts were impressive and the children worked hard on filming their scenes to a high standard to produce some Oscar worthy adverts!
