Years Three and Four have taken part in a wide range of activities today in order to learn about ‘Windrush Day’ today!

Pupils decided if they were travelling from the Caribbean to Great Britain what they might pack in their suitcase. They watched a PowerPoint presentation and wrote down key facts about the first journey by Empire Windrush. The Excellence and Equalities members from each class read the story ‘Coming to England’ by Floella Benjamin to their classmates. Later on, they watched a short film about the initial struggles some people had starting their new life in England. Lastly, pupils took part in a treasure hunt outside, they had to find 21 flags from the Caribbean countries, which proved quite tricky but fun!
