The children in reception have been investigating measurement and how to measure and compare weight. Using comparing scales, the children gained an understanding of how the scales would react to heavier and lighter objects.

They were engaged as they spent time working out which objects were lighter and heavier. If the object goes down, it’s heavier, and if it goes up it’s lighter. They loved pretending to be the scales using their arms to display how the scales would compare the animals.

By the end of the week, the children were confident using the correct language to describe and compare the weight of objects!
