Trewern Day Two

Pupils were up bright and early today and eager to get out and explore the Welsh countryside!

Mrs. Fernandes’s group scoured the hillside for Welsh dragons, in the misty hills they found an abandoned cave, which could have been the dragon’s home. Carefully, they tiptoed inside the dark tunnel but there was to be no dragon! Next they ventured down the valley and took part in some gorge walking. They slid down rocks, crawled under waterfalls, jumped in plunge pools and floated down stream.

Mrs. Noel-Makula’s group took part in some caving. Pupils showed their bravery in crawling through a tight gap in the rocks called the ‘Letterbox’ and got very wet splashing about in a cave called the ‘Super soaker!’ They also learnt about the features of caves such as, stalacities and stalagmites.

Miss. Mohmed’s group had a lovely afternoon canoeing down the canal. The pupils learnt how to steer the canoe and avoid barges successfully! There was lots of excitement at the end of the session when they slid down the underside of the canoe into the water!

To end the day, pupils visited the gift shop at Trewern and bought some souvenirs; fossils, t-shirts, pencils, keyrings and postcards.
