Trewern Day Four

Pupils were well into the swing of things by Thursday at Trewern and they had organised themselves incredibly well! It was also a special day as one of the pupils was celebrating a birthday! There were balloons, banners and party poppers!

Mrs. Fernandes’s group headed for the caves, passing Pen y Fan (tallest peak in South Wales) en route. Pupils waded through the stream in no time to enter the caves, observing some fossils in the rocks along the way. They used their head lamps to gaze in awe at the height of some of the caverns. Most of the group passed through the now infamous ‘Letterbox’ and slid down rocks with big grins on their faces. Later on, they walked above the cave and saw where the stream exits the cave.

Mrs. Noel-Makula’s group paddled down the canal in their canoes. There was a lot of teamwork and good communication between the children so that they could steer their canoes in the correct direction. They soon got into the hang of things and were keenly paddling down the canal.

Miss. Mohmed’s group tackled the gorge today! Pupils demonstrated their balancing skills by carefully walking along a log under a waterfall. They floated down the stream together and slid down a tunnel, making a huge splash! Lots of pupils said that this was their favourite activity of the week!

That evening, everyone sang happy birthday to the birthday girl and celebrated with some chocolate cake. Later on, there were team games, a quiz and a challenge to build the tallest tower!  Before bed, everyone made sure that they had packed all their belongings and their rooms were tidy.
